Big Sea Saison is a single-hopped farmhouse ale that features Sorachi Ace, a hop that was originally developed in Japan. Description: A complex malty wheat beer:

A darker style wheat beer with unique a banana bread character”Similar to a Hefeweizen, these southern Germany wheat beers are brewed as darker versions (Dunkel means “dark”) with deliciously complex malts and a low balancing bitterness. The color is a cloudy (unfiltered) medium brown with the usual clove and fruity (banana) character, which comes directly from the yeast.”

Cape Cod Weizen Bock ~ Specialty Brew

Style: Unfiltered Bavarian Wheat Beer
WeizenBock is a strong, malty, fruity, wheat-based ale combining the best flavors of a dunkelweizen and the rich strength and body of a bock.  Weizenbock has the distinction of being one of the heavy-hitters in both the wheat beer, and bock families. Ours is unfiltered, with a strong, rounded, malty backbone that showcases the aromatic yeast, letting its fruity, banana-like quality do the talking.   At 8% this beer is no lightweight and will help keep you warm on the coldest of nights. We took our time lagering this gem to a smooth perfection; we hope people will take their time enjoying it.  This beer uses the same special yeast used in Cape Cod Summer Ale, and Cape Cod Beer’s award winning Dunkelweizen.

This dark homage to our favorite delivery vehicle will never leave you in a rut.  Label designed by 15 year old Jacob Marcus who is studying Graphic Design at BHS.

Kurt’s Farmhouse Saison

Style: Saisons are a complex style of beer traditionally brewed in the winter and stored for the farm hands to drink over the summer and harvest months.  They tend to be fruity or spicy but not sweet and have a have a slight earthy yeast tone to them.   Our interpretation of this famous style is dry and tart with some fruity spicy overtones and pronounced lemon characteristics that comes from the French Aramis Hops.
Description: When Brewmaster Todd Marcus was approached by Ted Lowrie, President of the Board of Trustees of the Sturgis Library, to somehow participate in the upcoming Columbus Day weekend Vonnegut Celebration, the idea of special beer quickly came to mind.  Together with the brew crew and the library staff, brainstorming began on a name and beer style.  This of course is never as easy as it sounds, and dozens of names were suggested.  Given that Vonnegut was captured during the Battle of the Bulge in the Wallonia region of Belgium where Saisons are most famous, the style seemed perfectly appropriate.  His capture led to the writing of one of his most famous works: Slaughterhouse-Five.  This, combined with a candid photo provided by Vonnegut’s daughter showing Kurt relaxing in front of a barn house door on Scudders Lane, led to a moment of clarity and Kurt’s Farmhouse Saison was born.

Style: Common Beer
Description: “Common Beer” was originally brewed for the working class. First produced in the mid-19th century-this style is known for its clarity, and refreshing nature. Cape Cod Common is a mash-up (pun intended) of an ale and a Lager. We pitched Lager yeast and fermented it at a higher temp-like an ale. Our take on this old school American style is crisp and easy to drink. Flavors of biscuit are tucked into the background-with a subtle, but present hop aroma and flavor.

 S.O.O.N Parti-Gyle Style Session IPA 

Availability: February 3, 2014-until gonesoon small
Style: S.O.O.N. = something out of nothing
Description:Made using the parti-gyle brewing technique with the mash from a previous batch, in this case, Bitter End Imperial IPA.  The result is typically a smaller beer (lower abv) with a similar though lighter malt character from the first batch.  Slightly different from the hop bill for the Bitter End, S.O.O.N. is hopped with Chinook, CTZ and Cascade during the brew and dry hopped with CTZ and Cascade for a little extra hop aroma.  For a small brew, S.O.O.N., has a big, floral aroma. S.O.O.N. is a super limited release, in that we only have 6.3bbl’s in house

Style: NAUGHTY Black IPA
Description: NAUGHTY Black IPA  is part of the new ongoing “Hoppy Holidays” series that throws a nod to our fans who appreciate some of our more hop-centric brands.  The brewery plans to roll out a new edition in the Hoppy Holidays series each holiday season. The recipe was developed by Lead Brewer Jeff Rowe of Osterville, who wanted the beer to have a west-coast-like hop profile without too much roasty character to distract from the healthy amount of Ahtanum and Zythos hops.  To achieve this, he selected a Midnight Wheat Malt known to add smooth flavors, resulting in a hop forward Black IPA with subtle roasted notes.  Label art for this beer was designed by Cape Cod Beer Sales Guy Alan O’Campbell of Wellfleet.

Style: Biere de garde / French Farmhouse Saison

This style is an off shoot of a Bière de Garde and is a traditional artisanal farmhouse ale from Northern France. Related to the Belgian Saison style, this beer will have a really nice pronounced maltiness from the use of German aromatic malt, balanced by a subtle continental hop bitterness and noble hop aroma.
