Calmer Choice Dinner Party

August 16, 2018 @ 6:30 pm - 9:30 pm

$125
Cape Cod Beer Calmer Choice Dinner Party Mick Carlon

On Thursday August 16, Beth & Todd Marcus of Cape Cod Beer host one of eight intimate dinner parties being held across Cape Cod to benefit Calmer Choice. This one features Mick Carlon, a local luminary and thought-leader, as a special guest speaker.

Take a breather from your busy summer and engage in wonderful conversation around an informative topic, have a delicious dinner, meet new friends, and support Calmer Choice.

“Mick Carlon’s books are creating a new generation of jazz fans. Nothing like these novels has been attempted in the history of jazz, and these books will live on for generations,” writes Nat Hentoff, considered the Dean of jazz critics. A veteran school teacher at Barnstable Intermediate School, Mick Carlon is the 2018 winner of The Massachusetts Reading Association’s Celebrate Literacy Award. Mick’s mission to introduce people to the wonders of classic jazz speaks to jazz lovers of all ages – including the recent standing room only audiences at Cotuit Center for the Arts for Mick’s staged reading of Riding Duke’s Trail.

Calmer Choice is a community-based non-profit educational program, founded in 2010, that partners with schools across Cape Cod to teach mindfulness and encourage the development of kindness and compassion. Calmer Choice now reaches more than 21,000 Cape children and their families. Its collaboration with researchers at Tufts, Yale, MIT and Harvard establishes empirical evidence for the beneficial impact of mindful awareness on overall health, academic performance, and social-emotional intelligence in young people. Your support of this magical evening will ensure that thousands more children will learn tools to pause, notice, breathe and make better choices to grow their inner resilience, reduce the impact of stress, and increase their sense of well-being.
