Harbor Hawks PizzaFest Kickoff

HYANNIS HARBOR HAWKS FUNDRAISER FEATURING DAN DUQUETTE + GARIN VERIS

The Hyannis Harbor Hawks of the Cape Cod Baseball League will be hosting the second annual Pizza- fest Kick Off at Cape Cod Beer on Thursday, April 25 from 6:30- 9 pm .

Keynote speakers will be  Dan Duquette , former Red Sox GM and Garin Veris , retired New England Patriots defensive end.Duquette, a  general manager with three Major League clubs , has twice received the Sporting News Executive of the Year Award . He has also won the Baseball America  MLB Executive of the Year award. He is the founder of Dan Duquette Sports Academy.

Veris, a member of the Stanford University Hall of Fame, was the second round pick of the Patriots and made all Rookie Team his first season . He was also named to the  Patriots All 80’s Team, Veris was recently honored by the Patriots with their  Community MVP Award for his extensive  community service and volunteerism.

Last year the Harbor Hawks launched the Pizza Fest  sponsored by Hy- Line Cruises  on the Hyannis Village Green. It was a huge success with music by Cape Cod Broadcasting, games  by Deb Dagwan, beer by Cape Cod Beer and pizza provided by 10 local pizza vendors.  A  Celebrity Pizza Eating contest was one of the highlights.

The April 25 event will  feature Duquette and Veris speaking about their careers in professional ball. There will also be a silent auction with special items including Red Sox tickets. “Winning the World Series and  Super Bowl this  past season, we thought it would a fun evening to bring on a baseball executive and a former Patriot player”,  said  Hyannis president Brad Pfeifer . “They each have great experiences and stories to share, I know it will be a fun night”, commented Pfeifer.
The kick – off event is a fundraiser for the Judy Walden Scarafile Field at McKeon Park,  which has been under constriction since August and will be completed in June, in time for the CCBL opener June 10.
