Mangia al Museo
March 10, 2018 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm
$15 – $30
“The Italian phrase mangia means ‘Eat’ but it carries the richer cultural meaning to eat with great enjoyment,” says Angela Bilski, CCMOA interim operating director. “What’s more enjoyable than sitting down in the warmth of community and eating delicious pasta from artistic bowls handmade by our wonderful artists and students with love.”
Each guest will choose from decorated bowls of different colors and sizes that were created by the museum’s Ceramics Instructor Nat Doane and volunteer pottery students. The students have been hard at work throwing, trimming, and glazing these 300 pasta bowls. Every guest will take their chosen bowl home as a remembrance of this shared event.
A choice of either ziti or spiralized vegetables will be offered. 6 popular restaurants will compete for “Favorite Meat Sauce” and “Favorite Veggie Sauce.”
The competing restaurants are Encore Bar & Bistro, Gerardis, Treats/Dennis Inn and the Underground Bakery, Four Seasons Tratorria. The winning restaurants will receive a beautiful handmade ceramic platter created by Nat Doane.
Guests will also have a chance to win a special pasta bowl handmade by the President of the CCMoA Board of Trustees, Kathleen Fowler.
Trustee Elizabeth Sweeney, who organized this event said, “After the success of our first Mangia event, we’re thrilled to again offer this convivial feast shared by community, artists and restaurants to support the museum’s inspiring classes and workshops.”
The museum is grateful to The Dennis Cultural Council which has provided the clay through a grant. Beverages are provided by Cape Cod Beer and Joseph Carr Wines and Snowy Owl coffee.
Desserts baked by the Underground Bakery will be provided. Cheese will be provided by Sapori d’Italia.
