JOB OPENING: Summer Distribution Assistant (Full or Part-Time, 18+ No Driving Required)

This is a new position for Cape Cod Beer, in an effort to confront the continuing worker shortage. The Driver’s Assistant position is for employees who want to deliver beer for us, but are not old enough (over 18 but under 21), or who are old enough but don’t have box truck driving experience, or don’t have a clean driving record! We will put you in a truck every day with a qualified driver, and you will work a delivery route with that driver.

At Cape Cod Beer, the Distribution Assistant is responsible for working as a team to follow standard operating procedures in the day-to-day sales and distribution of our product.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Learning and using our sales and route management system, bMobile, both in the field with handheld Bluetooth devices and occasionally in house on desktop computers
  • Riding shotgun on delivery routes, delivering Cape Cod Beer in kegs and cans to wholesale customers
  • Working within defined standard operating procedures to perform all the daily tasks.
  • Providing world-class customer service to our customers without exception, including helping to put away orders and stock shelves, time permitting.
  • Keeping vehicles clean (inside and out), safe, and in good working order.
  • Maintaining a neat and clean personal appearance
  • If possible, providing customer draught system support as necessary
  • Insuring proper customer inventory and championing keg management by properly rotating kegs on delivery.
  • Looking for ways to improve draught and can sales and customer relations
  • Communicating with sales staff to build sales and improve business and with production staff to guarantee a smooth transition between production and distribution.
  • Helping out in any or all other aspects of the business is sometimes required, including taking out trash/recycling Monday mornings, retail sales, production/filling, cleaning, etc.
  • Carrying out any other reasonable duties as required.
  • Communicating regularly and efficiently with a positive attitude, sincere interest, and in a positive way with staff and management alike.
  • Compliance with all company safety SOP’s
  • Reports to Sales Logistics and Distribution Manager

Job Requirements:

  • Must be able to communicate effectively with staff and customers.
  • Must be able to multi-task and effectively manage time while also being detail and quality focused.
  • Must demonstrate a strong work ethic, be able to use a hand truck and pallet jack, climb stairs, stoop in close quarters, and move kegs (165 lbs.) and other related work throughout the day. This is a very physically demanding job.
  • Must be able to work both independently and as a team.
  • Must be responsible and dependable.
  • Must have a well-developed sense of humor.
  • Must enjoy good beer, unless under 21, and if so must abide by the drinking laws of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

This position pays $18-$20 an hour, depending on experience, and for full-time Summer employees includes paid holidays like Memorial Day, Fourth of July etc.  Again: This is NOT a YEAR-ROUND position. This is a SEASONAL FULL-TIME HOURLY POSITION or a SEASONAL PART-TIME POSITION, between May 1 and Sept 30th* (There is “some flexibility” on the start and end dates.)
