About the Beer: 8 Horses started as an amazing beer named: ‘Nox Atra’, which means means ‘Dark as Night’ in Latin, and is an appropriate name for this opaque Imperial Stout. Rich aromas of dark fruit enhance this beer’s velvety, full-bodied texture. Bold and complex, Nox Atra layers a roasty mild bitterness with the sweet flavors of black cherries and plums to create a dark, intense and warming palate pleaser.

About the Barrel: We then aged NOX ATRA in a barrel that had previously aged Blanton’s Single Barrel Bourbon Whiskey, provided to us by Luke’s Super Liquors. The already amazing flavors of the NOX ATRA blended perfectly with the exquisite flavors of the bourbon, which Blanton’s describes as:

“Taken from the center-cut or middle sections of the famous Warehouse H, Blanton’s Original Single Barrel was once designated for ambassadors, dignitaries, and Colonel Blanton’s family and friends. Today, everyone has access to the world’s first single barrel bourbon. The taste profile is sweet, with notes of citrus and oak. The creamy vanilla nose is teased with caramel and butterscotch, all underscored by familiar baking spices such as clove, nutmeg, or cinnamon.
