The fourteenth annual Wellfleet OysterFest

The fourteenth annual Wellfleet OysterFest will take place the weekend after Columbus Day, Saturday and Sunday, October 18 & 19, 2014, in Wellfleet, Cape Cod, Massachusetts. This two-day family festival celebrates the town’s famous oysters, clams and shellfishing traditions bringing together locals and visitors alike for a weekend full of hometown flavor and big time fun! There is something for everyone: local cuisine, arts and crafts, educational programs, cooking demonstrations, children’s activities, walking tours, live music, a road race, and the annual Oyster Shuck-Off competition.

The ‘Fest is produced by Wellfleet Shellfish Promotion and Tasting, Inc. (SPAT), is devoted to fostering a greater understanding of the town’s shellfishing industry, to preserve its history and traditions and protect its harbor, aquaculture and wild fisheries. The event is made possible through collaboration with the Town of Wellfleet, the support of many generous area businesses and shellfishermen, a dedicated group of volunteers and, most importantly, the weekend’s enthusiastic attendees.

While Cape Cod Beer is not actually available at the fest -we will be onsite at Winslow’s Tavern with a Specialty Cask of Cape Cod Red dry hopped with Willamette to be tapped Friday evening . We will have Blonde, Red, Pale Ale, Porter,& IPA available from Friday to Sunday.

There are also other great places in Wellfleet to enjoy our beer that weekend, including:

Last year an estimated 25,000 people walked through festival entrances paying a nominal admission fee for the first time ever! This comes from an effort to keep the event safe and sustainable for years to come. Proceeds from the ‘Fest fund SPAT’s educational mission including a local college scholarship program and community grant awards. To date, SPAT has given back more than $175,000 to the local community.
